When Your Body Feels Like It's Holding Too Much
You’ve tried to think your way through it. You’ve talked about it. You may have spent years in therapy and understand the patterns, yet your body still reacts before your mind can catch up.
Maybe it shows up as a racing heart, a tight chest, or a constant sense of tension in your body. You might feel on edge, easily overwhelmed, or shut down in moments where you want to stay present. You may notice yourself overthinking, bracing, or reacting in ways that don’t match how you actually want to show up.
Somatic therapy helps you make sense of these reactions and build the ability to respond in a way that feels more steady, grounded, and in control.

What Is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that supports nervous system regulation, helps process trauma and emotions held in the body, and builds emotional resilience. The focus is on learning to recognize and understand the signals your body is sending and responding in ways that feel safe, grounded, and aligned with you.

What Sessions Might Look Like
Sessions begin with building safety and awareness. This may include breathwork, guided tracking of sensations, grounding exercises, or noticing how emotions show up in different parts of the body. You stay in control of the pace and depth of the work, with space to move at a level that feels manageable for your system.

Somatic therapy is flexible and can be integrated with EMDR or art therapy, or used as a standalone approach. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. A willingness to slow down and begin listening to your body is enough to begin.
