//WHAT ARE EMDR INTENSIVES?//
Understanding EMDR Therapy Intensives
An EMDR therapy intensive is a focused treatment experience that provides dedicated time for trauma processing without the interruptions of weekly sessions. Instead of meeting for one hour each week, intensives offer extended EMDR sessions over one or several days, allowing you to stay engaged in the therapeutic process and build meaningful momentum.

Each intensive is thoughtfully planned in advance, grounded in preparation and safety, and tailored to your goals, history, and clinical needs. Depending on your treatment plan, your intensive may integrate EMDR, art therapy, and somatic approaches to support deeper processing and lasting change.

Virtual EMDR intensives are available for adults throughout New York and can be scheduled as 90-minute, half-day, full-day, or multi-day experiences.
An EMDR Intensive May Be Helpful If You...

-
Have tried talk therapy and are looking for a different approach.
-
Feel stuck in patterns that continue despite insight.
-
Feel disconnected from your body or struggle to process emotions.
-
Want dedicated time to focus on trauma without weekly interruptions.
-
Are looking for a structured, personalized approach to trauma treatment.

DEEPER WORK. DEDICATED TIME.
Why Choose an EMDR Intensive?
Trauma doesn't always respond to insight alone. You may understand what happened, yet find yourself reacting in the same ways, feeling disconnected from your body, or getting pulled into familiar patterns.

Many people have spent years building coping skills and self-awareness. An EMDR intensive creates dedicated time to stay engaged in the therapeutic process, allowing for greater continuity, deeper processing, and meaningful momentum.

Common reasons clients choose an EMDR intensive include:

Anxiety, panic, and feeling constantly on edge
Relationship wounds that affect trust & safety
Grief, loss, and unresolved emotional ties
Self-doubt, freeze responses, and feeling stuck
Triggers that interfere with daily life
What Happens During an EMDR Intensive?
Free 15-Minute Consultation
We begin with a free 15-minute consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and determine whether an EMDR intensive is the right fit for your goals. If we decide to move forward together, we'll schedule your preparation session and intensive.
Preparation & Treatment Planning
Before your intensive, you'll attend a 30 to 55-minute preparation session. During this appointment, we'll review your history, clarify your treatment goals, identify target memories, strengthen coping and grounding skills, and develop a personalized plan for your intensive. This preparation helps us use your intensive time intentionally and efficiently.
Integration & Follow-Up
Your intensive is structured around your individual needs and may include EMDR, art therapy, and somatic approaches when clinically appropriate. Sessions include planned breaks, opportunities for grounding, and flexibility to adjust the pace based on your nervous system and comfort level. The focus is on creating enough uninterrupted time to stay engaged in the work and build meaningful momentum.
Your EMDR Intensive
Healing doesn't stop when your intensive ends. You'll receive personalized recommendations, practical integration strategies, and a follow-up session to help you process the experience, reinforce progress, and apply what you've gained to daily life.
