When Coping Isn’t Enough, EMDR Offers a Way Forward
You’ve tried pushing through. You’ve tried using coping skills. But the tension, triggers, and racing thoughts are still there.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that works differently. Instead of talking in circles about the past, EMDR helps your brain rewire how distressing memories are stored so they lose their intensity.
The result? Relief you can actually feel — without years of traditional talk therapy.

How EMDR Helps Where Talk Therapy Stops
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on the brain-body connection. Trauma and stress live in your nervous system, not just your thoughts. EMDR helps rewire emotional responses so those triggers lose their power.
-
Goes beyond coping — it actually helps you heal.
-
Works with your brain and body, not just thoughts.
-
Helps triggers lose their power.
-
Can bring faster results than traditional therapy.

The Healing Benefits of EMDR Therapy
With EMDR therapy, clients often notice:
-
Relief from old wounds and stuck emotions. Finally letting go of what once felt impossible to move past.
-
A calmer nervous system and less anxiety. Breathing more easily and settling without constant tension.
-
Feeling more grounded and present in daily life. Instead of living on autopilot or in survival mode.
-
Confidence and ease in relationships. Showing up with trust, openness, and less reactivity.
-
A sense of peace they once thought impossible. Real relief that lasts beyond the session.
What to Expect in an EMDR Session
EMDR isn’t about reliving the past. It’s about helping your body and brain feel safe enough to release it.
Step 1: Identify what feels stuck
We start with a memory, belief, symptom or emotional pattern that’s still affecting you.
Step 2: Reprocess it with EMDR
Using guided eye movements, sound, or tapping, your brain begins to release the emotional charge.
Step 3: Feel the shift
The memory loses intensity, your body relaxes, and you may feel lighter, calmer, or more grounded, often after just a few sessions.

Compassionate Care, Grounded in Expertise
Hi, I’m Attiya, a trauma and anxiety therapist based in New York.
I know what it feels like to keep moving forward while carrying emotions that feel too heavy to unpack. My own path into this work wasn’t just about choosing a career — it grew out of a real understanding of how traditional therapy can sometimes miss the deeper layers of healing people truly need.
That’s why I created Lenora: a space for therapy that’s not only trauma-informed, but also creative, integrative, and centered on your whole self. I blend EMDR, Art Therapy, and somatic practices to help you release what’s been holding you back and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels lasting.
Here, therapy isn’t about endless talking or surface-level coping. It’s about real change, at your pace, in a space where you’re fully seen and supported.
