Trauma Therapy in NYC and New York
EMDR, Somatic Therapy, and Art Therapy for emotional triggers, chronic stress, and unresolved past experiences
What Trauma Can Feel Like
You’ve gone through a lot, and parts of it still feel like they’re living in your body. Maybe it shows up as panic, dissociation, muscle tension, or out-of-the-blue anger. You might feel emotionally reactive or emotionally flat, with no clear reason why. People assume you’re doing fine, but inside, it feels like you're running on survival mode.
You might be wondering:
-
Why am I still like this?
-
Is this trauma, or am I overthinking it?
-
What will help me actually feel better?

Signs You May Be Holding Unresolved Trauma
-
Getting overwhelmed or shut down in relationships
-
Avoiding situations that feel too loud, intense, or unpredictable
-
Constantly checking out or staying busy to avoid emotion
-
Having physical symptoms that don’t fully make sense
-
Feeling like you don’t trust anyone, including yourself
-
Feeling broken, tired, or ashamed of how you react
Why Trauma Responses Happen
Your nervous system is shaped by your experiences. If you’ve lived through trauma, neglect, or ongoing emotional stress, your body might still respond like the threat is happening now. That can look like chronic tension, numbing, flashbacks, or sudden overwhelm. This doesn’t mean something is wrong with you—it means your system is protecting you in the way it learned how.

Approaches I Use to Support Healing from Trauma
I use approaches that meet you where you are and support the parts of you that still feel on edge, shut down, or stuck. Depending on what feels most helpful, we might use:
To express and access what feels too complex to name
Somatic therapy
To build awareness and regulation from the inside out
to help your brain and body reprocess stuck experiences
You don’t need to explain everything for this work to be effective. We focus on what’s coming up now and help your system respond in a new way.
What If I Don’t Know Where to Start?
That’s okay. You don’t need to have a specific issue or goal in mind. Therapy can help you figure out what’s underneath the stress, whether it's unresolved experiences, expectations you’re carrying, or burnout that’s gone unchecked.
“I know something’s off, but I don’t know what to call it.”
That’s enough of a reason to reach out.

Trauma Therapy FAQs
Do I need to talk about everything that happened?
No. EMDR and somatic work often help clients process trauma without needing to speak in detail about every event. We focus on what your nervous system is holding and how to release it in a way that feels manageable.
What’s the difference between somatic therapy, EMDR, and art therapy?
Each one accesses trauma differently. Somatic therapy works with body awareness and regulation. EMDR helps the brain reprocess stuck memories. Art therapy lets you express what doesn’t come easily in words. We can use one or a blend depending on your needs.
What if I’ve done therapy before and it didn’t really help?
That’s a common experience. Many clients come in after surface-level therapy didn’t get to the root. My approach includes mind-body work that helps shift patterns you might not even be fully aware of.
Do you offer virtual trauma therapy in NYC and New York State?
Yes. I provide online trauma therapy to adults and millennials across NYC, Westchester, and anywhere in New York State.
How much does therapy cost?
I offer private pay sessions and provide superbills for possible reimbursement. Many students use HSA/FSA cards. If you're in financial need, I can also recommend low-cost referral options.
Why Work With Me
I specialize in working with adults who feel weighed down by things they haven’t fully been able to name or process. That might include trauma, ongoing stress, or the long-term impact of childhood experiences.
You’re not overreacting or failing for still being affected. Your system is doing what it learned to do. Therapy with me is about slowing down those reactions, building clarity, and helping you feel more grounded in yourself.
Curious if this could help you feel different?
This work doesn’t have to be rushed or forced. We focus on what’s showing up now and work from there.
