You Don't Need to Be Good at Art to Try Art Therapy

Art therapy helps you see what’s been hard to put into words. Whether it’s through drawing, painting, writing, or something else, it gives you another way to process emotions, find clarity, and move forward.

Art Therapy for Anxiety, Trauma, and Self-Doubt

Art therapy can be especially helpful when you’ve tried to talk your way through anxiety or trauma, but something still feels stuck. Many clients come to Lenora after years of overthinking, people-pleasing, or dealing with waves of emotional overwhelm.

Through guided art-making, we slow things down and work with the part of you that holds the stress, fear, or shame. Whether you're dealing with panic, emotional dysregulation, or painful past experiences, art therapy can give you a way to access and process those feelings more safely. You don’t have to find the right words before starting.

Step Into Healing

How Does Art Therapy Work

  • Start with a Conversation

We’ll check in about what’s on your mind: stress, big decisions, emotions that feel stuck, or whatever’s coming up.

  • Get a Creative Prompt (If You Want One)

Based on what we talk about, I’ll offer an art-based prompt to help you explore things differently.

  • Make Art, or Don’t

You can draw, paint, collage, or even use digital tools. If that’s not your thing, we can stick to talking. There’s no pressure.

  • Look at What Comes Up

We’ll explore any thoughts, emotions, or patterns that emerge. No judgment, just insight.

  • Find Ways to Apply It

We’ll talk about what you can take from the session and use in your daily life.

At Lenora, You're in Control of How Art Fits into Your Sessions

Use it when you need it, skip it when you don’t. Sometimes it’s just a small part of a session, and other times you might work on something between sessions and bring it in when you're ready.

about

Why Adults Across New York Choose Virtual Art Therapy

Many people begin working with a licensed art therapist in New York after spending years in traditional talk therapy and still feeling like something inside hasn't fully shifted. Virtual art therapy offers another way to process emotions, especially when you understand your experiences intellectually but your body is still holding stress, tension, or unresolved memories.

I'm Attiya Awadallah, LCAT, ATR-BC, a licensed creative arts therapist providing virtual art therapy for adults across New York and NYC. I integrate art therapy, EMDR therapy, and somatic therapy to help adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, burnout, perfectionism, and life transitions create lasting, meaningful change. You can learn more about my background here.

I work with young adults, adults, professionals, and creatives who often appear capable on the outside while feeling overwhelmed inside. Many have spent years taking care of everyone else, pushing through stress, or wondering why they still feel stuck despite understanding their experiences.

Every session is tailored to your goals, helping you better understand yourself, process difficult experiences, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been difficult to access through words alone.
